How Should I Clean My Clear Aligners?

Your teeth can be gently and successfully straightened with the use of clear aligners, which do not require the use of brackets and wires like traditional braces. They are an excellent treatment for a variety of dental problems, including overbites, underbites, and open bites. They are removable appliances and practically unnoticeable. Clear aligners can be removed and put back in their case before you eat because they are straightforward to pull out. By doing this, food won't become trapped in the aligner trays. Additionally, the majority of snacks and foods can still be consumed safely because aligners can be taken out. Before putting your clear aligners back in, we advise cleaning your teeth and giving them a good rinse.

How Should I Clean My Clear Aligners? Depending on how frequently you wear your Invisalign retainers, you may need to clean them more frequently. But it's advised that you clean it before putting it back in the case and after each use. Once each week, thoroughly clean your aligners. Regular cleaning lowers the likelihood of hazardous bacteria accumulation and unpleasant odors. The following are the best ways to clean your aligners.

-Toothbrush: An ordinary toothbrush can be used for daily cleaning. The best toothbrush for gently removing microorganisms should have soft bristles. On the other hand, avoid using toothpaste on your aligners. Toothpaste can scratch plastic because it is excessively abrasive. To eradicate plaque, use a colorless, odorless antibacterial soap. Then, give it a warm water bath. Your aligners' shape and fit may be ruined by hot water. Therefore care is necessary while using warm water for cleaning.

-Distilled white vinegar: An excellent homemade aligner cleanser is distilled white vinegar. It is not only risk-free to use, but it also gets rid of bacteria and plaque accumulation. Brush your aligners carefully and then combine one part of distilled white vinegar with three parts of tepid water in a cup. The retainers should then be fully immersed in the solution. Give it fifteen to twenty minutes to soak. Rinse off the vinegar and water mixture to complete the process.

-Aligner cleaning tablets: Tablets for washing aligners clear away contaminants. This procedure is comparable to utilizing a solution of distilled white vinegar. Put a tablet for cleaning aligners in a glass filled with warm water. Shake the tablet to dissolve it. Following that, immerse your aligners for 15 minutes or as instructed.

-Aligners Cleaning Crystals: To get rid of bacteria, this technique uses crystals to clean aligners. This is frequently recognized as among the best methods for cleaning aligners. The Aligners Cleaning Crystals may be the best option for you if you don't want to use a DIY cleaning solution. Take off your aligners and wash them under cold water before using the cleaning crystals. After that, put them in a jar and fill them with heated water. To dissolve and disperse the Aligners' cleaning crystals, add one sachet to the water and give it a little shake. Give your aligners 15 minutes to soak. After that, give the jar a gentle shake before rinsing the aligners in water.

-Hydrogen peroxide: Another alternative for do-it-yourself disinfecting is hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide works miracles for stain removal, washing, and disinfection. To use, combine hydrogen peroxide and water in equal parts. Then, immerse the retainers entirely by dropping them into the mixture. Before taking them out and cleaning them, let them remain for 15 to 30 minutes.

-Ultrasonic cleaning system: If you want to spend some money on a product that will quickly clean your aligner, an ultrasonic cleaner is a perfect choice. Cleaning aligners of bacteria and dirt rapidly is a strength of ultrasonic cleaning equipment. For excellent outcomes, an ultrasonic cleaner employs cleaning chemicals to thoroughly clean even the finest regions of your aligner.

-Polident: Although most people only think of using Polident to clean dentures, it can also be used to clean aligner trays. According to the instructions, trays should be thoroughly cleaned daily for around 15 minutes in the denture cleanser.

Why Do My Aligners Smell? A common complaint among aligner users is that as the day wears on, their aligners start to smell. That is occurring because bacteria can flourish in the optimal environment created by plaque buildup and dryness, which also produces an unpleasant odor. Just give your aligners a quick brush each time when you remove them to prevent this. Thus, brush your aligners with a little toothbrush before putting them in after your meal, just like you would do your teeth. Additionally, while you're at it, wash your teeth because that will also help to minimize bacteria. This will remove food particles from your aligners and teeth, and your aligner will never smell.

How Often Should I Clean My Invisalign? Cleaning the Invisalign twice a day is recommended, usually just after brushing your teeth. In order to reduce bacteria buildup, we also advise you to wash your Invisalign under lukewarm water each time you remove them. Avoid running them under hot water, since this might distort the material. Soak your aligner in Aligners Cleaning Crystals, Retainer Brite, or denture cleanser once or twice a week. Avoid using colored denture cleanser since it could discolor your Invisalign.

Can I Soak My Invisalign In Mouthwash? The use of mouthwash is one method for maintaining aligner trays in excellent shape. Your Invisalign trays can be cleaned of the majority of typical impurities by soaking them in mouthwash. However, some mouthwash has certain chemicals that may stain your Invisalign. Therefore don't forget to use clear mouthwash to avoid staining your Invisalign tray.

They're All Top Notch
Julie C.

I'm so happy to have found this awesome dentist with an awesome staff. I am completely confident in the doctor's skill level, and completely comfortable relying on him to work on me without allowing me to experience unnecessary pain. In addition to having a good relationship with the dentist, being able to relate with the office staff is equally important to me. From the hygienist to the dental assistants to the front desk, they're all top notch.

This is the best dentist I have been to and I have been to several. The team is professional and welcoming. They are never over-booked and I have never waited more than 5 minutes in the lobby. They are so efficient, no matter what I go in for, I am out in 45 minutes or less. I highly recommend Cypress Family Dental.

The Staff Did A Great Job
David L.

Came to Cypress Family Dental a year ago for my sleep apnea device. No more snoring! The staff did a great job fitting me for this oral appliance. Better yet, they were there to support me when I needed some adjustments later on. The front office staff couldn't have been more accommodating to schedule me in. Easy to recommend.

They Truly Care
Tina E.

The dentist and his staff are wonderful people! In the past, I have had horrible experiences at other dentist offices and then I found this place and I don't think I would ever go anywhere else again. I live about 45 min away from their office but the drive is well worth it. They truly care about their patients. I would recommend this office to anyone.

The sweetest people work here, I'm convinced! The ladies at the front desk always go out of their way to be kind and helpful, the hygienists listen to your concerns and will address them to their best ability, and the doctors are just stellar. I drive over 40 min from where I live to go here because it's rare to find a dental office this fantastic.
